X Factor: Finalists and Fashion
We won’t lie, as a new brand in their first year of existence there are a handful of X Factor contestants we want to see wearing Word Head. Like Kingsland Road – they encompass everything we stand for – and Rough Copy, they’re darn right cool.
There are obvious game players who wouldn't be described as a Word Head groupie but boy would Tamera Foster look ace in a Naughty cropped tee. Luke Friend deserves one of our bracelets and little Nicholas McDonald’s crying out for an inspiring quote splashed across his chest.
Who do you think’s heading for 2013 victory? We’re rooting for Rough Copy.

THE BATTLE: Joey vs. Proudlock
Reality T.V. You either love it or hate it (#marmite), but one thing is undeniable, it oozes style. OK, there are some fashion faux pas, a disturbing amount of fake tan comes to mind (all those in favour buy our 'Pale Skin For The Win' tee) but the boys are on point with their threads. The kings of reality style are Made in Chelsea's Proudlock and TOWIE'S Joey Essex.
Mr. Essex is a fan of skinny jeans. Let me retract that. He's a fan of spray on jeans! And he obviously read our blog from a few weeks back as he's always in a pair of Air Max ;) ... Fashion clearly runs in his veins as he's now the proud owner of a clothes shop, Fusey, where wannabe Joeys can spend to their heart's content.
For those who wish to avoid the Essex vibe, nose through a Chelsea wardrobe. Despite Proudlock's posh roots his brand is anything but. Not a tweed jacket to be seen, he too has launched his own brand; Serge De Nimes. With high quality graphic tees, jewellery and an array of logo hats, Serge is one of the coolest street brands in recent years.
The question is, who do think deserves style victory?

TIME TO TUMBLE
Tumblr. What does it make you think of? Besides the glamorisation of smoking and half-naked women, you’ve actually got yourself a pretty amazing site.
Forget Google images, wave goodbye to magazine style guides, Tumblr does all the hard work for you. Filled with millions of quirky and well taken photos of people supporting a variety of styles, it’s the less obvious (but far better) destination for wearable wardrobe inspiration.
Are Word Head big on Tumbling? Indeed we are. Adding a variety of new pics every day for stylish lads and the 21st century tomboy, we suggest you check it out!
Admit it. You’re tempted.

Rolling with Rizzle Kicks
The Rizzle Kicks boys are primarily known for their catchy tunes and their mumma humping, but at Word Head we worship them for a different reason: we think they're two of the most fashionable lads in the music scene.
Always rocking up at award ceremonies in a pair of jeans rolled at the hem, Vans, a hoody, and without fail, a statement jacket (not to mention a funky hat) the boys keep it real and sum up street style. Harley's a fan of the five panel and most recently a Fedora, and in 'When I Was A Youngster' Jordan wears a deer hunter with ears! (You can see the vid' on our Facebook page).
These are some of our fav' outfits, which do you like best?

THE Truths of fashion week
People – or more appropriately, you - contemplate fashion week in of one of two ways.
You either skip a beat at the thought of being shot by Tommy Ton (without fearing the verb in that sentence) and fall asleep counting your wardrobe entirety of sheep – from your sheepskin gilet to your sheepskin lined boots – or you let out a massive sigh of annoyance.
For all those falling into the second category, don’t read on. Everyone else, please pick up your imaginary press pass and continue.
London Fashion Week has now been and gone. Twitter has become a far more socialable place to find oneself – none of this ‘I need calories and coffee, fast, and a new Prada shoe, size 4 preferably’ – and the world has a fresh style fascination: Barbie pink. (Buy yours early from Word Head now, in dip-dye no less.)

We dribbled over the lollipop like spots at Burberry, Boy Scout stripes at Richard Nicoll and white that brings out one’s inner angel at John Rocha, JW Anderson and Antonia Berardi. Again, if you’re a creature who would die for the clinical colour, divert to Word Head’s fine shop post completion of this post. You know you want to.
As for the stylish creatures that stalked the streets surrounding Somerset House, we enjoyed spotting veiled beanies and shoes that were more associated to sculptural works of art than homes for the feet.

TIE DYE FEVER
Sharing the love, getting lost in the music, smoking weed - OK, not the last one - but summer unarguably saw the hippy return. And with that, tie dye tees made their stand!
We wanted to get involved so bypassing the tree hugging stage, here's what we did. Our latest collection sees us exploring our more artistic and experimental side, as we create our own HAND DYED range of tie-dye tops. We loved them so much we also made the executive decision to tackle dip dying with hot pinks and pale purples; the Word Head brand just keeps growing.

Queen cara
Eyebrows. Big, sluggy eyebrows and a tongue that’s better likened to something that slithers out of a lizard's mouth. You've got to love Cara Delevingne, who (despite the tragic introduction) is a 21 year old fashion godsend.
With a name pronunciation that causes most to stutter and looks of equal effect, she’s the new girl on the model block, most recently making it as the face of Mulberry (she’s the one with the owl on her arm), DKNY (again) and Fendi, not to mention British Vogue.
If you hadn't clicked, we’re obsessed, and we’d love to see her in a Word Head tee.

Battle of the trainers:
nike vs. new balance
Unless you've been living in a cave for the last six months, you will have realised that the shoe to be seen in this season is the Air Max 1 or the New Balance trainer.
Both are equally cool, but which will win the title of the ultimate trainer?
For the first time in history you can now be seen wearing an Air Max without being considered a chav. Seize this oppotunity! With up to date patterns including leopard print, they've taken a classic and brought it into the new season.
On the other foot, with a range of colours avaliable from New Balance, including cool khakis and vibrant blues, there's a pair for everyone.
Have a look yourself and see which takes your fancy.

TOP OF THE CROPS
Bare belly flashing, have you tried it? Worries of ASBO convictions aside, we’re talking cut-off tops opposed to arrest-worthy exposure. If Rita Ora and Cara Delevinge are anything to go by, we’re here to announce that summer style is devoted to the teeny tiny crop top. Fashion’s admittedly obsessed.
With all of your fiery might, suck in that pretty little middle and pull on our newly launched Word Head crop top; it’s time to get prancing! This is your way of mastering seasonal cool.

WORD HEAD'S EXPANDING WORLD
When Word Head was born it was predominantly a t-shirt business, but before long we wanted to expand and turn it into into something bigger. Something that allowed more variety and more products; we wanted to develop a full clothing line. Although we’ve become known for the slogans spread across our chests, we began our next phase by branching out and selling rings inspired by the greatest word game of all, Scrabble.
Soon after (and with the arrival of summer) we launched a debut range of sunglasses. Proving to be a popular product, stock sold out within one month!
Our latest collection of Word Head goodies meanders between accessories and clothes. Let us welcome socks to you, my friend, in hot pink, peach, mint and turquoise (to name only a few shades). Although plain pairs can be purchased, we decided to add the Word Head touch too - a select set have been hand printed with quirky slogans, including 'S.O.S' (Save Our Socks) and 'Let's Play Footsy'.
The question now is, which pair will you be wearing?

My oh miley!
We all know Miley Cyrus has transformed herself over the last few years. We’ve said goodnight to Hannah Montana and embraced Miley as a solo artist with songs including ‘The Climb’. But now her transformation is clearer than ever. A short while ago her hair appeared in magazines everywhere as she ditched her long locks and went for something a lot more edgy. Then, as we watched her latest video ‘We Can’t Stop’, we noticed her clothes took the edgy route too. Throughout the video you can spot her wearing a pair of white leggings and a matching cropped tee. Sounds plain, right? But with red lipstick, enough gold jewelry to make Jay-Z jealous and all her tattoos on show, it makes for quite the statement outfit.
She’s also seen in a selection of graphic print items, including another cropped tee with the words ‘West Coast’ and a bodysuit saying ‘Dope’... Hopefully most of you will know by now that graphic tees optimise Word Head designs!
In her final scene you can spot Miley wearing a black beanie and a cropped fishnet top. Unfortunately she sports a grill too, which, let’s face it, you can only carry off in a hip hop video.
Nonetheless we have to hand it to her; she’s looking slick.

'High Flyer' Flies into Top 25 Tees!
Here at Word Head we’ve recently signed up to ASOS Marketplace and it’s been a decision we have not regretted to this day. Not only have we been grateful for the increased exposure and rise in sales, but we soon became one of ASOS Marketplace’s ‘Top Tees’; out of 5,103 competitor products, our ‘High Flyer’ t-shirt made it into their top 25 designs. We were elated! Not to mention very flattered.
We want to say thanks to ASOS and everyone who’s bought the tee, and remember, keep up the ambition and become a High Flyer!

Word Head Launches on ASOS Marketplace!
It’s one thing having a new product, or to be specific, a new brand, but to boast a healthy customer following is entirely different. In our current world where owning a Twitter account is favoured over possessing a well tailored pair of trousers, it became apparent to team Word Head that we needed to stretch beyond local measures in order to sell our stock.
If you are reading this blog post via our ASOS Marketplace Boutique, you will have put the two together; we decided Word Head would benefit from selling via ASOS, so with a budget discussion and photo shoot organised, we prepared. One month down the line we can safely say the Word Head Boutique has launched! A further four weeks on, ourbrand has benefited from what initially seemed a daunting task.
We have decided to run our Word Head ASOS Marketplace Boutique in the same way that we have chosen to organise our website; clearly, informatively and with an inspiring edge. As you click onto our homepage you will be greeted with an oversized photograph of Phil’s proud hands; she wears an arrangement of Word Head Scrabble Rings to rather beautifully spell out our brand name. (Do you like this?) We have carefully worked our social media accounts into the shop front (you are able to find us on Twitter , Facebook , Tumblr and Pinterest with one simple click) and finally, displayed our products in a clear-cut way that enables our customers to easily navigate their way around our site.
To date, we have not looked back. We have sold Word Head merchandise every day since our launch and our feedback, although few and far between – we put this down to busy schedules, not disappointment! – has been a delight to read. Together with your support, our fresh ideas and a selling space on ASOS Marketplace, we hope to make Word Head the quirkiest fashion brand out there that is inspired by good grammar and words.

The Making of Word Head's Spring Summer 2013 Lookbook
I normally lay on the ground and get sprayed by dust at a motocross track, that or head to London to shoot at a skate event, so, being the photographer for our first Word Head shoot was a little out of my comfort zone. Nevertheless I was eager to give it my best shot.
The models for the day were two of Freya’s friends; Melissa, an absolute natural beauty (and being ginger, a perfect model for our ‘Pale Skin For The Win’ T-shirt) and Sam, effortlessly cool and (I hope he won’t mind me saying this) a bit of a poser! They fitted the role perfectly and made my job as photographer a lot easier.
Despite everyone’s initial nerves, we soon got into the swing of things and before we knew it we were coming up with creative ideas for the photos (Sam playing with a Lego aero plane for our ‘High Flyer’ tee for example).
Our goal was to get a set of quirky photographs to show off our t-shirts. With the help of our make up artist Hannah Cheveralls, Freya for her ideas and making everyone feel that bit more comfortable and of course our models, I’d definitely say we managed to get that done.
And with that we had created Word Head’s first ever lookbook.

Word Head - The Start
At the end of 2012 I was approached by my sister about an exciting new project and was asked if I wanted to get involved. She was eager to start up a t-shirt business which (not surprisingly as she is a writer) would be inspired by good grammar and words. Straight away I loved the idea and couldn’t wait to get started!
Three months later and Word Head launched. Originating as a t-shirt business, Word Head now gives you, the fashion forward man or woman who hates grammatical errors, a destination for quirky, playful and inspiring apparel, including not only t-shirts, but hand printed socks, rings and sunglasses.
